Our 20/20 Vision...
Homeless dogs & cats of Warren County will be protected in the shelter we build in
As many of you have supported this effort, we wanted to give you an update on our work for an animal shelter to serve Warren county...
NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Robin Cagle – Owner, Pets on Parade Grooming – Wright City
Kathy Caton – Owner, Three Dog Bakery – Town and Country
Robin and her daughter, Bella, will be overseeing our 4th annual Woofstock event Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Diekroeger Park in Wright City.
Kathy and her husband Mike are full-time Innsbrook residents and she spent seven years as Secretary on the Board of Five Acres Animal Shelter in St. Charles, as well as serving on the Executive Committee.
Robin and Kathy joined board members Katie Gorman, President, daughter of full-time Innsbrook residents Cheri and Tim Joyce, Wanda Thomas, Vice President, original CCAC board member, Penny McClain, Assistant VP First State Community Bank, Treasurer, and Claire Cook, retired Wright City school teacher.
We are also very excited that Ruth Anne Scheidegger has joined Tracy Sator, previous Secretary for CCAC, on our Advisory Board! Ruth Anne has dedicated over 12 years to animal care and support to Five Acres Animal Shelter Board not only as Past-President for 5 ½ years but also in that role general contracting for building additions at their shelter. Tracy was pivotal in the resurgence of CCAC and both are actively working on the shelter committee.
We are thrilled to add these very knowledgeable and caring folks and moving forward we are in the process of identifying and vetting suitable properties in the area for our build. The original CCAC group in 2008 purchased 3 acres west of Warrenton and we have deemed that property unsuitable for a shelter in 2020. That land is now an asset on our balance sheet. With that in mind, if you know of any opportunities we should look at or a generous donor to grant us land use please let me know!
We have developed a partnership with Best Friends Society in Utah to aid us in our shelter build and operations moving forward. They share blueprints for building and shelter maintenance and growth and host numerous conferences.
We have vetted several sites in the past year, and don’t want to dangle a carrot, but feel like we are getting VERY close to a shelter site. So stay tuned; it is coming!
In the meantime, if you have any ideas, questions, would like to be added to our volunteer list, please don’t hesitate to send me an email!
Peace, love, paws!
